Gecko 2 Head pics before and after

Shane's car (nicknamed : Gecko 2) was given a refresh so that Shane could sell it in the future with some major maintenance items taken care of (timing belt etc...), as well as getting rid of an annoying oil leak. When the head was pulled off, we discovered that a recent install of 4 EGT Probes had resulted in damage to the head (which we could not tell from just driving the car around afterwards). See this link for more info on the 4 EGT Probe install

Head after machining. The head was skimmed .015" (0.4mm) to remove the damaged surfaces and bring the compression ratio back to stock when using the 1.4mm TTE metal head gasket. Stock head gasket is 1.0mm thick.

The piston tops were also machined to remove surface impressions and irregularities similar to the head. This is important to remove any potential sharp edges that can cause preignition and detonation due to hot spots in the combustion chamber occurring.
